Sheriff Jared Rigby

1st Vice President

Sheriff Jared Rigby has built a 24-year career in law enforcement, leading Wasatch County as Sheriff for the past six years. Born in Provo and raised in Southern California, Rigby moved to Wasatch County in high school and has remained committed to serving his community ever since. His career started in corrections before he became a law enforcement officer, where he developed a deep appreciation for the law. He furthered his expertise by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Policy from BYU, followed by a Master of Public Administration and a Juris Doctorate from the University of North Dakota.

Sheriff Rigby has spent his full-time career with the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office while also working with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and BYU Police. His diverse background includes clerking for judges, working with a prosecutor’s office in North Dakota, and serving in the U.S. Air Force’s Defense Counsel. As Sheriff, he has emphasized strategic long-term planning, implementing a five-year plan to set clear goals and guide the office’s progress. Additionally, he is passionate about mentoring students, regularly speaking at schools and overseeing a scholarship program for high school seniors.

Beyond law enforcement, Sheriff Rigby is active in the community, serving as Chairman of the Wasatch County Republican Party, a member of the Wasatch County Bar Association, and on the Advisory Board of the Children’s Justice Center. In his free time, he enjoys raising Black Angus cattle with his brother and spending time with his wife, Krisann, and their ten children.

Sheriff Rigby believes in proactive leadership, strategic planning, and strengthening community ties to ensure a safe and thriving Wasatch County.
